One of the most stressful experiences a child may have to deal with is being separated from his family and home, regardless of the circumstances. The caring staff of YCS is extremely sensitive to this fact, and recognizes that the children who come into a residence need special care. From the day of a child\u2019s admission, our staff of therapists, social workers, psychiatrists, nurses, and other childcare professionals begins treating both the child and, wherever possible, the family.<\/p>\n

Our clinical team\u00a0provides an accurate assessment of each child\u2019s needs so that they can develop and implement a strength-based individualized treatment plan. The intensive residential treatment module allows the child to regain and maintain control of their behaviors so that they may be transitioned home or to a less intensive level of care in the community. In addition to clinical services, homes employ adjunct\u00a0services such as art and pet\u00a0therapy horseback riding and fitness\/sports activities.<\/p>\n

YCS utilizes the Nurtured Heart Approach and Six Core Strategy <\/b>concepts in staff training and client interactions with an aim to eliminate restraints and promote wellness. Staff assists\u00a0each child\u00a0to create an individualized “calming down” plan by using sensory modulating tools.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

YCS maintains 18 homes, for approximately 160 children across the state.\u00a0<\/p>\n
