One of the most stressful experiences a child — and family — may have to deal with is being
separated from home and each other, regardless of the circumstances or the age of the child.
The caring staff of YCS is extremely sensitive to this fact, and recognizes that the
children who come into a residence need special care. From the day of a child’s admission,
our staff of therapists, social workers, psychiatrists, nurses, and other childcare professionals
begins treating both the child and, wherever possible, the family.
YCS offers an array of nurturing therapeutic, and life skills teaching residences
for children, teens and young adults with emotional/behavioral health challenges,
developmental and intellectual disabilities. While in the “home away from home”
YCS helps the child learn appropriate behaviors by providing a structured and positive
atmosphere where small successes are rewarded consistently. In the next placement,
the child should be able to build on progress already made and continue to build on strengths.
