YCS provides specialized residential care for adults with lifelong intellectual and developmental disabilities, often paired with mental health or medical challenges. Through our Sawtelle Adult Residential Services program, we operate a network of warm, home-like residences—often referred to as our residents’ “Forever Homes”—that offer 24/7 support tailored to each individual’s unique needs.

These homes serve adults ages 21 and older, including individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder, co-occurring psychiatric conditions, and medically fragile diagnoses. Our goal is to help each person achieve their highest potential through comprehensive care that promotes independence, dignity, and personal fulfillment.

What Makes Our Homes Special

YCS Forever Homes go beyond meeting basic needs—they foster a true sense of belonging, stability, and community. Each home is designed to reflect the comfort and rhythm of a traditional household. Residents share meals, participate in holiday celebrations, enjoy recreation, and form lasting bonds with their peers and staff—creating a strong family-like environment.

Each adult in our care receives a personalized Individual Service Plan created by an interdisciplinary team of professionals, including clinical, medical, and behavioral experts.

Services may include:

  • 24/7 Residential Support in a nurturing, home-like setting
  • Behavioral and Mental Health Services, including individual and group therapy
  • Medical and Nursing Care, with medication management and treatment for chronic or degenerative conditions (such as Parkinson’s disease and epilepsy)
  • Specialized Equipment and Adaptive Environments, including wheelchair-accessible features and therapeutic tools
  • Skill-Building and Life Skills Development to support self-care, communication, and self-sufficiency
  • Recreational and Enrichment Activities tailored to individual interests, such as art, music, exercise, and community engagement

YCS conducts annual parent satisfaction surveys and client satisfaction surveys.  The parent Satisfaction Committee then  works to implement changes that the parents and clients are concerned about.

Even when biological family involvement is limited or absent, residents find stability, joy, and connection within their YCS home. Each person’s uniqueness is celebrated, and their care is grounded in respect, understanding, and a deep commitment to their long-term well-being.
