Individual/Group Giving Opportunities

There are so many ways to become a YCS volunteer as an individual or part of a group. It’s a busy world, but we know that the smallest action can be the greatest force for change in the life of a YCS child.

Mentor – The role of a Mentor is a very special one in the life of a YCS child.  By spending quality time, one on one, with a child in one of our residences, you can help him or her discover regain the ability to trust others and to believe in themselves and their future.

Organize An In-Kind Drive/Back to School Drive – In late summer, children throughout New Jersey turn in their beach towels and swim fins for markers, binders and books. Their parents head off to the local store to make sure their child is prepared. Unfortunately, the families of many of the children in our residences and schools do not have the financial resources  to help the children get ready for that first day.  By participating in this drive, you are guaranteeing that every student will be prepared to start school.

Be a Secret Santa – Calling all Secret Santa’s! While the holidays are a joyous and happy time for so many of us, they can be extremely difficult for children who are separated from their families. Once again, we need you, your colleagues, and your friends and relatives to help us make the season brighter for the children in our care.

Attend an Event – Enjoy social time spent with friends & supporters of YCS knowing that your participation is helping to insure a better future for the children of YCS.

Holiday and Special Appeals – Direct your gift to help make the dream of summer camp, give a holiday present to a special YCS child or help a YCS child experience a once in a lifetime event.

Do you have a child who would like to help?

Children Helping Children – Our “hands-on” volunteers must be at least 21 years of age, but we encourage all school children, girl scouts and eagle scouts to be involved with the children Throughout the year, there is a constant need for new arts & crafts supplies, new board games, new batteries and new clothing. Because of State health regulations- all items and clothing donated for the children must be new.
